a fresh start

After 6 long years of living in New York City, I called it quits. The majority of my city years were spent in Brooklyn. During these years, the hub and I have tested a plethora of career moves and managed to throw a pretty killer wedding.

With that as the cherry on top of a good run, we packed up a u-haul and gave up our sweet rent stabilized apartment and turned our heads north to the Green Mountain State. We Goldfrieds are pretty pumped, but won't be surprised when a few adjustment periods and culture shocks come our way. You lucky folks get to benefit from the hilarity.

You're welcome.

As far as the move went, it was pretty hilarity-free. The planets aligned for one of the most seamless moves imaginable. It was, of course, not without 2.5 hours of traffic between Brooklyn and Westchester, but thats besides the point.

Since then, the past 48 hours have been spent unpacking, assembling furniture and settling in. We've even had 3 neighbors stop by to welcome us with gifts and hugs. Not exactly a typical New York welcome, but I could get used to this.

You should be impressed to learn that one part of our suburbian move came quite easily, the Costco membership. We even saved a ton of money on our insurance by switching to Vermont. We already had Geico, but living and driving anywhere else in America is cheaper.

Well there's nothing like a fresh new start to start a fresh new blog to document a new life together in a new place and all of the fun stuff that comes with it.

More updates to come but until then this is what you're stuck with.
